Sharek Youth Forum is an active member of the Palestinian Adolescent Health Coalition, a national initiative established in May 2018 in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the Palestinian Ministry of Health, and Juzoor for Health and Social Development. The Coalition brings together more than 30 national and international organizations, as well as governmental bodies working across the health and education sectors, including Sharek Youth Forum.
The Coalition aims to improve adolescent health in Palestine, with a particular focus on sexual and reproductive health, health awareness, life skills development, and the prevention of risky health behaviours. It also contributes to the development of national health policies and strategies that uphold young people’s right to access accurate, comprehensive, and age-appropriate health information, while advocating for the integration of adolescent health issues into broader health and social policy frameworks.
Among the Coalition’s key achievements are:
supporting the establishment of an Adolescent Health Unit within the Palestinian Ministry of Health;
contributing to the development of a strategic framework for adolescent sexual and reproductive health;
delivering capacity-building trainings for Coalition members on sexual and reproductive health, adolescent communication, and digital safety; and
developing awareness materials and policy-oriented guidance on adolescent health in different contexts.
Through its membership in this Coalition, Sharek Youth Forum contributes to national efforts to advance a holistic approach to adolescent health, one that recognizes physical, psychological, and social well-being as integral to young people’s development. This engagement also reflects the Forum’s commitment to supporting the integration of adolescent health, including sexual and reproductive health, into programmes and services in ways that are responsive to young people’s needs and respectful of their social and cultural context.
