Aouna Festival: Honoring Volunteers and Cultivating a Culture of Giving in Palestine
For more than twenty-five years, the Aouna Festival has become one of the most prominent national initiatives celebrating the spirit of volunteerism in Palestine. The festival is organized by Sharek Youth Forum in partnership with the National Committee for Honoring Volunteers, creating a national platform that brings together volunteers, institutions, and youth initiatives that have contributed to serving Palestinian society.
Throughout the years, the National Committee has honored hundreds of individuals, volunteers, and institutions who have made exceptional contributions to Palestine through community, humanitarian, and development work. This recognition comes as a tribute to their dedication and as an affirmation of the importance of volunteerism as a deeply rooted national value within Palestinian society.
The festival carries the slogan “Every Olive Tree Deserves a Volunteer.” This symbolic message reflects the deep connection between volunteer work and the Palestinian land, as well as the collective spirit of giving that has long characterized Palestinian communities. The festival is not merely a moment of recognition; it also seeks to spread a culture of volunteerism among younger generations and to strengthen the spirit of initiative and collective action across Palestinian communities.
Over the years, the Aouna Festival has evolved into a national platform that brings together volunteers from across Palestine, highlights inspiring stories of civic engagement, and reinforces the idea that volunteerism is not a temporary activity but a fundamental pillar in building resilient communities.
Through this ongoing effort, the festival continues to affirm that volunteerism remains one of the strongest values shaping Palestinian society and sustaining its spirit of solidarity and collective action.
