Najoom Al-Amal Association – Deir Al-Balah

Located in Deir Al-Balah in the Gaza Strip, Najoom Al-Amal Association for the Empowerment of Women with Disabilities hosts one of Girl Zone’s community-based learning spaces, serving adolescent girls from the local community. The center currently reaches 75 girls aged 12–17, organized into three active learning groups, with sessions focused on self-empowerment, confidence-building, and the development of essential life and social skills.

Girl Zone is designed to be a safe, supportive, and inclusive space—and inclusion is a core principle of the programme. For this reason, Sharek works intentionally with partners that help ensure access for girls who are often left behind, including girls with disabilities. Working with organizations specialized in disability inclusion is an essential part of creating environments that are welcoming, respectful, and accessible.

At the Girl Zone site, the learning space has been equipped to provide a comfortable environment that encourages participation. Sessions are delivered by a qualified female team, ensuring a trusted and safe setting where girls can express themselves, take initiative, and contribute positively to their communities.
