Sharek Youth Forum and UNFPA Launch “Majd” Summer Camps Across Palestinian Governorates
In partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and local civil society organizations, Sharek Youth Forum has launched the 2025 “Majd” Summer Camps, targeting adolescents across various Palestinian governorates. Taking place amid ongoing closures and complex socio-political conditions, the initiative is part of a broader national vision aimed at empowering young people and strengthening their role within their communities.
The camps focus on holistic adolescent health and combine learning, experiential engagement, and creative expression. The program features a diverse set of activities designed to:
• Promote mental, physical, and emotional well-being
• Use filmmaking as a medium for self-expression and community advocacy
• Provide sports and recreational activities that foster wellness and teamwork
• Develop critical and creative thinking skills
• Instill positive values, social responsibility, and a sense of belonging
• Encourage meaningful youth engagement in community issues
Implemented under the supervision of specialized trainers, the camps apply modern educational methodologies that are responsive to the developmental needs of adolescents. Central to the approach is the active involvement of youth in designing and leading the camps themselves, building their confidence and strengthening their capacity to drive positive change.
This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and forms part of a national educational framework that aims to equip the next generation with the tools to express themselves, make informed decisions, and thrive in safe, inclusive, and stimulating environments.
The “Majd” Summer Camps are being held throughout the summer in multiple locations, engaging hundreds of adolescents from diverse geographic and social backgrounds.
Sharek Youth Forum and UNFPA emphasize that providing safe and nurturing spaces for adolescents is a collective societal responsibility. It requires the concerted efforts of institutions, families, and community leaders. Environments that respect the unique needs of adolescents, support their well-being, and create opportunities for participation and expression are essential to building a resilient, inclusive society. The “Majd” Camps stand as a tangible example of this partnership—where community experience and educational innovation meet the aspirations of a new generation, working together for a better future.
