The "Youth Valley – Wadi Hamed" Initiative
In partnership with the Kafr Ni'ma Youth Council
This initiative emerged in response to the local community's need to restore a vital connection between people and nature, especially in light of the environmental neglect and the decline of social and touristic activity in the valley. Youth from the area took the lead in transforming Wadi Hamed—a key natural entrance to the Youth Village—into an open and inclusive space for community, cultural, and artistic engagement, all in harmony with the surrounding landscape. The effort reflects a broader commitment to sustainability, ecological awareness, and rootedness.
Implemented in Kafr Ni'ma with the participation of the local youth council and the village council and support from Sharek Youth Forum, the "Youth Valley—Wadi Hamed" initiative drew wide involvement from volunteers and community actors. The project aimed to rehabilitate the valley and activate it as a vibrant site for youth, environmental, and cultural programs within a setting marked by rich natural beauty and ecological heritage.
Activities carried out as part of the initiative included cleaning pathways, removing waste, planting trees, and launching an art-based environmental event titled "Reflections of Wadi Hamed," which combined creative expression with the natural surroundings. The initiative seeks to foster a community-driven environmental development model and cultivate public awareness of the importance of protecting natural resources through voluntary youth action and locally sustained engagement.
