Urgent Statement
Gaza on the Brink of Famine: Food Supplies Nearing Exhaustion and a Humanitarian Catastrophe Looms
The Sharek Youth Forum warns of an impending famine in the Gaza Strip due to the continued closure of border crossings and the prevention of humanitarian aid, food, and medical supplies from entering the territory, placing the lives of thousands of families at grave risk.
The Forum stresses that the remaining food supplies are rapidly depleting, and within a few days, all basic food items may run out completely, signaling an unprecedented humanitarian disaster.
The Forum further emphasizes that the ongoing policy of blockade and obstruction of humanitarian relief constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, particularly the Geneva Conventions and all international covenants guaranteeing the right to food, life, and human dignity.
The Sharek Youth Forum urgently calls for the immediate and unconditional opening of all crossings and the secure, uninterrupted flow of humanitarian aid necessary to save lives and prevent a mass famine threatening hundreds of thousands of civilians.
The Forum also appeals to the international community, human rights organizations, and humanitarian agencies to fulfill their ethical and legal responsibilities, act swiftly to pressure to end the unlawful blockade and ensure the unimpeded delivery of food and medicine to those in desperate need.
