Civilians Pay the Price: Attacks on Humanitarian Sites in Gaza Destroy Food Aid and Disrupt Relief Efforts

Gaza is facing an escalating humanitarian crisis, and ongoing attacks on humanitarian facilities are making relief efforts increasingly difficult. Sharek Youth Forum and its partners—including civil society and international organizations—are struggling to resume aid distribution as critical service locations come under direct threat.

In a recent incident, the Beit Al-Maqdis Takiyya in Tel Sultan was destroyed, injuring four staff members. Meanwhile, significant damage forced the evacuation of the Salah al-Din Takiyya in Khan Younis, cutting off iftar and suhoor meals for more than 5,200 people during the holy month of Ramadan.

These attacks not only disrupt vital services but have also resulted in the loss of over 18 tons of food aid—an irreplaceable resource amid growing shortages and the continued closure of border crossings.

Despite these challenges, we remain committed to delivering humanitarian assistance. However, the safety of aid workers and facilities must be ensured. We call on the international community and humanitarian organizations to take immediate action to protect relief sites and prevent further targeting.

Now, more than ever, a safe and protected environment is needed to allow humanitarian organizations to do their work. We urge all concerned parties to uphold their responsibilities and ensure that lifesaving aid reaches those in need.

We appreciate the solidarity and support of all those standing with Gaza’s civilians in these difficult times.
